01 · Our story
From Nassau to five continents
Allen, Allen & Co was founded in Nassau in 1993, at a desk on Dowdeswell Street, a few steps from where our headquarters stand today. The practice began the way most good ones do: Bahamian families, Bahamian businesses, and legal work done properly.
It did not stay small for long. The same qualities that Bahamian clients valued — discretion, careful drafting, advice that anticipated the second question — are what international families and institutions look for in The Bahamas. Word travelled. Trusts led to funds; funds to financings; financings to mandates that crossed oceans.
Today our operations reach across North and South America, Europe, Asia and Africa — more than 40 countries in all. Our practice covers the everyday legal needs of Bahamian life and commerce, and the offshore fields in which The Bahamas has built its reputation. Many matters sit right where the two meet: a Bahamian trust for a Latin American family, a fund with European investors, a resort financed across three continents. That dual fluency, local and international, is what we bring to every client.

The firm opens its doors in Nassau, founded to serve Bahamian families and businesses with the same care as any large offshore practice — and more of their attention.
The trusts and private wealth practice takes shape, as international families discover what Bahamian structures and Bahamian discretion can do.
Cross-border work grows quickly: funds with European investors, resort developments financed from North America, and corporate mandates from Latin America.
Counsel and associates join the firm in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas, turning a Nassau practice into a genuinely international one.
A full-service firm spanning five continents and more than 40 countries — still headquartered in Nassau, still led by the people who handle the work.
